Why Goods-In-Transit Insurance Is A Good Idea

insurance-body

My courier job means I have a responsibility over other people’s positions, and my careful nature meant I didn’t want to take any chances with my insurance. I knew that if I didn’t get the correct insurance I might find I wasn’t fully insured.

After starting my new business, I ensured I had everything covered within the company, including the professional indemnity, the two vans, goods in transit, employer’s liability and the company itself. I couldn’t take advantage of the savings of insuring but combining my insurance policies and using a fleet policy because I didn’t quiet quality for a mini-fleet.

I spoke to my local insurance broker, who had already arranged all my other insurances for me and she suggested that I took out a fully comprehensive commercial vehicle policy for my two vans. This included breakdown cover. Initially I had planned to go direct to a recovery company such as the AA or RAC to sort out my breakdown cover. However, my broker explained that the breakdown cover was quite comprehensive and included Roadside Recovery, Home Start or Full European cover. I decided to take the cover out which, at least meant I didn’t need to go and sort out breakdown cover elsewhere.

After taking out this policy, we were hit with one of the worst snowfalls in living memory. My local area was practically cut off from everywhere else, and the news broadcasters were advising us to stay indoors. However, I had several packages that needed to be delivered, and I didn’t want to upset my clients.

So, after preparing myself to go out into the cold I got into the van and set off. Although I had already scraped the windows, they had begun to refreeze, and I couldn’t see much. On the last delivery of the day a warning light came on my dashboard, and I pulled to the side of the road when it was safe. I was worried about tomorrow’s deliveries, but within 20 minutes of me calling the number the insurance broker gave me, the recovery truck was with me and towing me away. They took me to the local garage, who quickly identified and fixed the problem, and my van started again.

I managed to deliver all my packages for the next day, meaning that there was hardly any disruption to my business, making me very pleased I took out the cover. Through listening to my insurance broker I learned the benefits of not just going for the cheapest deal, but being properly covered in the event of an emergency, a promise for a business which is invaluable.

This is a story that could have ended horribly wrong but fortunately, my careful nature paid dividends. goods in transit cover I decided to take the cover out which, at least meant I didn’t need to go and sort out breakdown cover elsewhere. I knew that if I just looked for the cheapest insurance deal, I might find that I am not fully covered.. Also published at Why Goods-In-Transit Insurance Is A Good Idea.

Deciding On The Best Car Insurance

insurance-body

Evaluating Car Insurance options, and coming up with the right decision, has now become a hard road to travel for many people. With numerous Insurers and diverse covers, the finest way to compare them would be to look at the most risky areas. Here are the major areas of critical risks you should carefully assess before taking up a policy.

Insurance coverage types: You will find two types of Insurance approved by the States. They are the Tort system and the No-fault system. The No-fault system, however, is most preferred amongst the States. This insurance consists of a requirement for the Insurer to protect your claims. The rule applies irrespective of who is the at-fault driver. It covers you up to to a given limit.

On the other hand, the rule with the Tort system stipulates that, any medical costs associated with an accident, will be fixed by you. However, you are able to make claims to recover your costs from the Insurers of the Driver at fault. This is dependent on your sufficient proof that the expenses are directly linked to the accident. Nevertheless, the Driver at fault cannot make any claims for his medical expenses.

Protection for private injury: You, definitely, do not want an unforeseen exposure to personal expenses. Such unexpected developments can arise in the event of accidents or funerals for yourself and family. In particular, if there is no other existing life or health insurance for you, you want to be sure you take this cover.

Cover for Teens and Single males: Young adults who are 25 years or less, have much higher premiums, due to the risk factor involved. This level of protection would usually be more expensive than your personal insurance. However, it is an important insurance to take towards minimising your family risks.

Single males are expected to pay increased rates than the married ones. They are also charged higher rates than single females. Though, Insurers look at this age-group as high-risk insurance, it is an area that deserves a careful comparison of auto insurance quotes. Getting teens insured as occasional drivers would normally serve to decreased the rates.

Uninsured car cover: This is an auto insurance requirement in many States. You would need as much of this cover as you possibly can. It takes care of any hit and run driver. It also goes to protect the driver, in the case of a car-theft. When comparing and deciding on an insurance policy, this one should be placed on a must-consider list.

On virtually a half-yearly or yearly basis, it is a great idea to request for auto insurance quotes. You will probably be amazed at how much you will begin saving. Obtaining these free quotes creates great prospects for a regular lowering of your premiums.

Online purchasing of policy: Getting on the internet affords a fast and easy way to sort out a comparison that could have been a difficult task. There would be no need to get an appointment with a Broker. By the click of a tab, you could define your scope of options and be looking at quotes in just a moment.

As you do your comparison of Car Insurance quotes, focus your attention on those hidden risks you don not want to be unprotected against. As you analyse what each quote has on offer, you will find it easy to select the best protection with the best savings.

Some Tips On How To Get A Good Auto Insurance Quote

insurance-body

Are you looking to save some money on your auto insurance? Are you wondering how you might be able to go and get a cheap auto insurance quote? Well, if you want to look for ways of cutting costs during this very difficult time, then consider some of the following things.

Consider the amount of coverage you are getting. Many people will be paying more than they should for coverage that they do not need. It is crucial that you constantly evaluate your coverage requirements whenever you come to the end of any policy term. This will allow you to work out whether you are paying for something you do not need or not. If you are, you can cut this down and save money.

Consider the deductible on the policy that you get. The deductible will refer to the cost of getting the insurance company to handle your claim. If you make a claim you will need to pay out a prescribed sum of money and most people will therefore try to keep this low. However, it may be a good idea for you to increase the size of your deductible as this will help you to lower your monthly premiums on the policy that you get.

Consider packaging together your insurance policies. If you can get your different insurance policies from the same company then you will benefit from a discount. It is always important for you to check whether or not you can get your policies cheaper if you get them from different companies who specialise in certain types of insurance, or whether you can get a cheaper package deal.

Consider the vehicle that you are driving. Your car will be one of the most important factors to consider when you get a quote for your insurance. If you drive a flashy motor that does not have the relevant safety features then your insurance will be higher. You might therefore consider the idea of trading in your current vehicle for another which will allow you to save on your monthly premiums.

Consider your credit rating. If you have a very poor credit rating and have demonstrated an irresponsible financial history then this will count against you when you look to get insurance. As such, you should always make sure that your credit rating is as good as possible, and as such you should take steps to improve it if you can.

Consider the payment plan that you will have on your policy. If you simply pay towards your policy every single month and set up monthly installments then this will cause you to pay additional costs over the term of the policy. Instead, you should look into the idea of making a large down payment or perhaps paying off the entire policy straightaway. This is an excellent way of reducing the overall costs, and if you have the relevant finances to do this you should certainly consider it.

Consider getting as many quotes as you can. The more online auto insurance quotes you are able to gather from reputable providers, the more likely you will find a very good quote that will enable you to save money. Comparing these quotes is a very good way of identifying the best one for you.

Complete home and vehicle insurance Ontario, could never be easier. Get an accurate, no obligation online auto insurance quote today. We will help you select the best coverage and auto insurance company that meets your needs.

How Do You Correctly Report a Car Accident for Insurance?

insurance-body

All drivers get involved in some type of car accident at least once. Therefore It is very necessary to be acquainted with the basics of providing your information to the other driver so that they know how to later get in touch with you. Although, the accident is small, you must not simply drive away, else it might be called a ?hit and run?. It might be possible that you knock an empty car but even then it is essential to exchange your information with the owner or driver of the car so that they ay contact you. In a serious accident, your first objective should be to ask someone to call at 911.

The foremost step, which almost everyone forgets in such a case, is to not confess fault. Although the accident was caused due to your mistake, you must not admit it immediately in front of the other person. This is so because even if afterwards it is found that the fault was not yours, still you may be forced to pay the bills as you had earlier admitted it. Do not loose your calm and manage the condition in an organized way so that there is not much fuss created.

Swap the insurance information with the other party/ parties immediately. Ensure that the names, contact numbers, and addresses are provided so you can contact each other later. This explains why it?s so essential to carry your insurance proof along with you in your vehicle. You might have to give the proof later if you don not have it with you at the time of accident.

If both the parties agree to wait then you can call and ask your claims representative to arrive and have a look at the damage. This is not always possible, but it is important that you call the claims representative as immediately as possible. If your claims representative manages to arrive at the spot, then he will take photos if you are present, fill up the insurance claims form, have a talk with the other party/ parties involved and may be even talk to some of the eye-witness of the accidents.

You must also remember to take some shots of the damage and the nearby area before the vehicles are moved aside. This is quite convenient these days with most people having camera mobile phones. So, take good pictures that clearly tell the damage done to both party cars, and also take other pictures that may help in reporting the accident.

After you have made a call to your claims representative, clicked pictures, and taken each other?s contact information, you may usually leave the spot. In most cases, a police officer arrives by this time to assist in clearing up the mess and getting your vehicles removed from spot by tow trucks. Sometimes when the crash is not so serious, tow trucks may not be required at all. Also it may take weeks or months to get your insurance money, so you may have to bear the initial repair charges yourself.

The money you get is determined by the lowest repair quote given to the insurance company. If your car is totaled you will receive the blue book value for your car. The blue book value is a standard set of prices for cars taking into consideration their model, age, and condition. If you made any modifications to your vehicle you will not be compensated for them.

Guide to Commercial Truck Insurance

insurance-body

If you are the owner of a business then you might want to get commercial truck insurance. This insurance plan doesn?t only cover the trucks, but also covers just any sort of company vehicle you own. Commercial insurance is indeed a vital element of your business, though it can at times be costly. Your commercial insurance rates are decided in various different ways.

The car’s history and the driver’s record are the first things taken into account. Only an approved person can drive your company vehicles, since one person may be more of a liability than another. If the person has many tickets or accidents on their record your insurance will cost more. Although the age of your vehicle is considered, it is really the condition that it is in that really matters. A certified technician is hired to look over your car to determine this condition.

If the driver allocated to drive your company vehicles has a good record of driving commercial vehicles, then you can expect to have lower premiums. The driver must also have a genuine Commercial Driver’s License. You can save even more money on premiums if you hire a driver between 30 and 65 years of age. Any below of above this range may lead to a price increase.

An insurance company will want to know what the truck is used for and how often. If your drivers are on the road all the time you will have to pay more than usual. To avoid the high costs you should take advantage of the many benefits that are offered. Discounts are sometimes offered to companies that have been in business for more than three years. This is because the drivers are less of a liability since they know the delivery routes well.

Take god care of your commercial insurance to ensure that it doesn?t expire. At times, you may have to pay higher premiums, though not every time. You must make your payments timely to make certain that your company drivers and trucks are always covered and insured. Sometimes a business may be easily broken by a big and unanticipated expense like this, which may involve a complete truck out of insurance.

You can buy commercial truck insurance quite conveniently, given that you have with you all the paper work done. It is recommended that you shop around a bit to look for better prices, and provide all the required information to get the quotes. Getting different quotes is essential as many people are not aware of a good price and better plans by other companies. You must remember that not every insurance company has commercial insurance, so check this before you go out to meet an agent.

Lastly, remember to never allow anyone, not under your commercial insurance coverage to drive one of your company vehicles. If they face an accident, your insurance plan will not provide coverage for it as the driver had not been approved by them. This is at times a high risk that you must avoid to take with your company vehicles. Talk with your agent to get some useful tips and ways of finding the right commercial insurance that will suits all your needs.

How Will Your Car Insurance Be Affected After a Claim?

insurance-body

Generally, after making a claim your car insurance premiums is expected to rise. The main reason for this is that now you have become a liability for the insurance company. They have to spend a great deal of money each time you have an accident and the insurer wants to ensure that your premiums are enough to compensate for the expenses and at the same time get profit from them.

It is difficult to anticipate to what extent your car insurance premiums will be influenced. This also depends on how many total claims you have had already. If the insurer finds that you already have had an accident earlier then your premiums will increase more. If they find that you had numerous accidents and are a risky driver and you may expect to have to pay much higher premiums.

Your insurance may also be affected by how frequently the car accidents took place. If you had two car accidents in a year, without much gap in between, your premium rates can escalate higher. Regardless of where you search for, your insurance will be influenced by your driving history in this fashion, though it is possible that you might get a better rate if you look around.

The insurance companies save the highest premiums for young drivers. According to a research done by the insurance companies, it has been proved that the young male drivers are more prone to accidents. These drivers have new driving records and hence are considered a burden by the insurance companies. If such drivers face accidents then their premiums will shoot up and remains so till they create a good driving record of many years.

In certain cases your insurance may not be affected as much. This is usually if the accident was not your fault or if you have had a long standing clean record. Of course, some insurance companies will still up your rates regardless, even if the accident wasn?t your fault.

In order to know the process how the premiums are set you must have a slight knowledge about the ISO symbols. ISO is the abbreviated form of Insurance Services Offices, Inc. and they give a particular symbol or number to every car. This symbol tells how much the value of the car is. This makes the ratings by the insurance companies just and identical for all. If you own an expensive vehicle then your ISO rating must be really high. This means that it will take more money to fix the damages of your car. Such vehicles usually have a higher premium rate. After an accident, your premiums will also increase regardless of your ISO rating.

Your insurance will of course not be withdrawn after a car accident, but it possibly will become so huge that you may have to cancel it. Even if you cancel the insurance after an accident, the insurance company will still anyways cover your claim. You must provide the correct time when the accident occurred. This is important because if your accident took place even a minute after the expiry of your plan, you will have to bear all the expenses yourself.

Knowing this you now realize how much a claim affects your premiums. You may therefore see it as unnecessary to file a claim for small accidents, seeing as you may end up paying double or more in higher premiums. In most cases it is better not to file a claim if the damage is under $750 dollars. You may also want to avoid putting in a claim if you have another accident on your record that same year.

The Advantages Of Pay As You Drive Insurance

insurance-body

Insurance premiums are usually based on factors such as a driver’s gender, age and where they live. But Pay As You Drive insurance is different because it is based on the number of miles you drive. The less you drive, the less you pay.

The obvious advantage of Pay As You Drive coverage is its lower cost. Since the premiums you pay are calculated on the basis of how many miles you drive, reducing your monthly insurance payment is a snap. Just drive fewer miles. Not only will you pay less for your policy, you will pay less for fuel and maintenance. The fewer miles you drive, the less wear and tear, and the greater likelihood you will be able to keep your car long after you make the last payment. And with the cost of new and used vehicles going up all the time, having a car without a payment is a major incentive.

Another benefit of Pay As You Drive coverage is that it is possible to customize the insurance program to personal needs. Premiums are determined either within a range of miles driven, or hours driven. The owner may elect to a Pay As You Drive plan that focuses on a specific time period, such as six months, or just the total number of miles driven. Freedom and flexibility in Pay As You Drive allows drives to design the insurance coverage that works best for them.

Because Pay As You Drive incentivizes driving less, it makes it less likely you will get yourself into an accident. Low-mileage drivers are usually more focused and careful behind the wheel, too.

Pay As You Drive plans require mileage monitoring, but there are several options. You can opt for certified odometer readings, the same kind as performed when you have a safety inspection. Or you can have a GPS monitor installed into your car, which allows the computer simply to upload data to the insurer. If you choose to use GPS, the initial cost of the monitor will probably be offset by the reduction in your premiums, making future coverage less expensive and hassle-free.

The Brookings Institute found that two-thirds of American households would save an average of $270 per year with Pay As You Drive. In the current economic situation, that is welcome news.

Not only does Pay As You Drive insurance save you money, it also helps protect the environment. Fewer vehicles on the roads mean a reduction in auto emissions. Reduced traffic also means less congestion and traffic jams, which means less time wasted in the car.

There are many advantages to Pay As You Drive. See or call your insurance agent to get more detailed information about a Pay As You Drive policy that meets all your insurance needs.

Cars That Are Less Expensive To Insure

insurance-body

Buying a car involves a number of costs other than the actual purchase price of the car. One such cost is car insurance. Often people do not consider the cost of insurance when they are searching for a car. Many people do not realize that the price of car insurance will vary from car to car. Because car insurance can be expensive, it is important to understand why it is expensive to insure some cars over others as it can affect the price one pays by hundreds of dollars.

The type of car that you drive affects the price you will pay for auto insurance. Rates are based on a particular car’s make and model. A car with a low loss history will be cheaper to insure. For instance, if you purchase a brand new car that has no record of accident and other damage claims, the rate you pay will usually be based on the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Then rates will be adjusted on loss history over time

Insurers will also asses such features as horsepower-to-weight ratio and adjust the insurance rate accordingly. The more high performance cars will tend to have higher premiums. As well, the car’s history of vehicle safety will affect premiums. Cars with a good record of safety will have lower auto insurance rates. This is why larger cars and minivans tends to be one of the most least-expensive vehicles to insure. The car repair history, the safety record of the car such as the number of instances of accidents, and size of the car, all are assessed when determining the premiums one will pay.

One of the least expensive cars to insure is the Smart fortwo which is made by Mercedes-Benz. This small two door coupe comes with 71 horsepower engine and has a fuel economy range of 33 mpg in the city. It also has a low collision loss record. The 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe is another car that is cheap to insure. The Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the Santa Fe has a low record of comprehensive insurance loss and low personal injury and collision protection insurance claims.

The following are a list of a few of the least expensive cars to insure: Hyundai Entourage, Hyundai Santa Fe, $832 , Saturn VUE, $911, Chrysler Town and Country, $915, Smart Fortwo, $881, Honda Odyssey, Mazda Tribute, $913, $871, Kia Rio5, $870, Kia Sportage, $840, and Kia Sedona, $857.

Other cheap cars to insure include: GMC Safari, Chrysler PT Cruiser 4dr Wagon, Pontiac Solstice, Pontiac Sunfire 2dr Coupe, Volvo S40 4dr Sedan, Honda Civic, Buick LeSabre, GMC Safari SLE AWD 3dr Minivan, Dodge Caravan SE 4dr Minivan, Ford Taurus (station wagon), Buick Century Special Edition 4dr Sedan, Dakota Quad Cab, Saab 38600 Linear 2.3t 4dr Sport Wagon, Volvo XC90, Saturn L300 1 4dr Sedan, Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD 4dr SUV, and Pontiac Montana.

In this troubled economy, we can all benefit from saving extra cash. If you are on a tight budget and are looking for a new vehicle, choosing a car that has low insurance premiums can save you hundreds of dollars a year.

Due to its convenience, purchasing auto insurance online is gaining popularity in the modern age. In any case, auto insurance is an essential asset for all automotive owners.
